Hey everybody, good to see you here again. Many of y’all have probably heard by now, but some of you maybe not…we’ve had a VERY eventful journey just getting on tour let alone being on tour. A couple bus breakdowns plagued us early on (the full mockumentary can be found on our instagram feed and on faceplant . Happy to report there have been zero human casualties to date, all band members are safe and accounted for although some losses in the theater of battle (mostly I-80 EB) were reported…Among those left behind we count 2 deep cycle batteries (and associated components), a starter battery, 3 toothed hydraulic pump belts, 1 gal of hydraulic fluid, 3 gals of coolant, 1 coat hanger, 3sq meters of duct tape and at least a few self tapping screws.
It brings up a lot of things we’ve been pondering as of late. How the Universe sometimes gives you what you need whether you want it or not- that could include a forced break in the ol’ routine…or to be careful what you own- not just materially speaking but energetically as well. How do you feel about the whole non-attachment spiel? Attached to that hydraullic pump belt on the bus? Not for long-it’s detached now and you best detach from your schedule. Or how about the ancient Chinese concept of Wu-Wei (or “not doing”). Guess what our batteries are not doing right now? Working. That’s what. There’s deep learning to be found in what could be perceived as random inconvenience.
That said, we as humanistic humans persevere! We make lemonade. We teach each other our new songs over an unplanned 3 day sojourn in a Wyoming junkyard. A retreat, if you will. We open up our heart-minds to the NAPA lady in Missouri. Anyone can be a guru. We don’t read these events as dark omens, but rather feel them as the gusts that fill our spinnakers and hurl us to your communities. Not trying to be martyrs here or act like we even know what the hell we’re doing, just want you to know we ain’t stopping yet.
This just kind of moseyed its way into my conscious mind the other day…Start to ask the big questions and you’ll start to receive big answers. But those big answers don’t appear big, they’re subtle and most readily found in nature. Your true nature is awareness, and I’m very aware that I’m beginning to ramble. That’s it for now, stay tuned…we have lots of fun things to look forward to and you can always keep up with us on our website…
Thank You For Being a Friend,
-NCD
